Unlike Adobe Illustrator, which is a vector-based software, Photoshop is raster-based. This means Photoshop does not natively support SVG exports in a fully editable way. However, you can still bring your Photoshop designs into Pixul AI by following some extra steps.
A Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Prepare Your Photoshop Design
Before exporting, ensure your Photoshop file is optimized for vector conversion:
✅ Keep It Simple
Avoid complex effects like text warping and blend modes since they don’t translate well to SVG.
Try to use basic shapes and solid colors wherever possible.
⚠️ Rasterize Essential Effects
If your design must include a specific effect that is crucial to the look, rasterize it before exporting:
Step 2 : Open Your Design in Adobe XD
Open Adobe XD.
Click File → Open, then select your simplified Photoshop file.
Step 3: Convert Your Design to SVG Using Adobe XD
Since Photoshop does not support direct SVG exports, you need to use Adobe XD:
Select the artboard of your design
Go to File → Export → Selected.
In the export dialog box, choose SVG as the file format.
Recommended Export Settings (from screenshot):
Format: SVG
Styling: Presentation Attributes
Save Images: Embed
Optimize File Size (Minify): ❌ Unchecked
Path Options (Outline Stroke): ❌ Unchecked
Click Export to save your file.
Step 4: Open Exported SVG from Adobe XD in Illustrator
Now that your design is in SVG format, it’s best to refine it in Illustrator before uploading it to Pixul AI.
Open Adobe Illustrator and go to File → Open.
Select the SVG file exported from Adobe XD.
Make any final adjustments if needed.
Step 5: Export SVG from Illustrator
Go to File → Save a Copy.
Choose SVG as the file format.
Apply the following settings:
SVG Profiles: SVG 1.1
Fonts Type: SVG
Subsetting: None (Use System Fonts)
Image Location: Embed
CSS Properties: Presentation Attributes
Decimal Places: 3
Encoding: Unicode (UTF-8)
Check ✅ Output fewer <tspan> elements
Check ✅ Use <textPath> element for Text on Path
Uncheck ❌ Responsive
Uncheck ❌ Include Slicing Data
Uncheck ❌ Include XMP
Click OK and save your file.
Step 6: Upload SVG to Pixul AI
Log in to your Pixul AI account.
Click Create New Design and open the Pixul AI Editor.
Click Import SVG and select your exported SVG file.
Once uploaded, you can edit and refine your design.
Final Notes
✅ Adobe Illustrator is the best tool for SVG exports, but using Adobe XD as a middle step helps convert Photoshop designs into a compatible format.
✅ Keep your Photoshop design simple and avoid complex effects to get the best results.
✅ Rasterized elements will not be editable within Pixul AI.
By following these steps, you can successfully convert your Photoshop designs into SVG format and import them into Pixul AI for further editing.
